SPRING 2008 Salon Collection....Huge
success!!!! Thanks to all who attended. This Collection was
again a collaborative event based on "good design". Customers,
stylists, casual observers, antiquities, nature, for example, can have
great influence on a designer's choices. This Spring Japanalia
explores many of these influences, as well as integrating our originals
with the work of Emmelle, Reintsema, Chrzaszck, Denise Peterson, Jessica Beels,
Angela Caputi, Joycemarie Washburn, Irene Reed...and of course some
special pieces by Eiko.
Spring celebrates
rejuvenation!!!!
Separates are what Japanalia
is all about...versatile tops & bottoms coordinate in stylish
ways that take you through your day and an occasion in graceful
comfort...interchangeable pieces in fine, and often exotic, fabrics help
define the wearer...makes Japanalia a perfect destination for play,
business, Mother of the Bride and special occasion dressing.
Courting "Mommyhood"? Try us on for size!
MEN?...wear a skirt if you
will, but every fabric group has styles that cross gender lines,
satisfying the person who wants more than just polo ponies on his
chest! Loose, comfortable, simple lines in unusual fabrics
make most styles accessible to both women and men. Shirts
& jackets wrap left over right, a signature of traditional
kimono...so SHARE! (CHER?)
Can't find cottons in winter,
or wool in summer? Japanalia always has off-season clothing
available for cruise wear or travelers to contrasting climates (even
discounted at our Hartford outlet. on one!)...just ask!
Skirts...Skirts...Skirts
A-lines...Straight...Fishtails...and our specialty "spiral"
in every fabric imaginable...skirts
for every figure!
Washable silk...Crop cowls or
cowl tunics & crop tees in many colors... black, white,
beiges, pinks, reds, blues, purples and
greens...Weddings...YES...Jeans...YES...mix and match!!!
TOPS?...The best are easy:
Tees in every fabric, cowls in crinkled silks, & soft jerseys, crisp shirts
with one button at the neck. A simpler top often makes a stronger
statement, providing a clean background for great ACCESSORIES!...LIKE...
Angela Caputi's Florentine
bakelite jewels; beaded trapeze earrings and necklaces by Jessica Beels:
heirloom & semi-precious constructions by Denise Petersen.
Irene Reed's "pearls" of trapunto-stitched &
lacquered fabric, & more!
KIMONO is, of course, what
originally inspired JAPANALIA. The national costume of JAPAN, these
garments are made from humble cottons, linens, wools, or silks that can
cost more than your car! Not always as wearable these days in the
traditional form, we think the sumptuous kimono fabrics are
fabulous appliquéd to tunics, jackets, coats...a continuing Japanalia
signature that can be customized in colors to suit your fashion
palate!
Some of our favorite JAPANALIANS
tell it like it is: Hartford's Joan Baker & Barbara Dennis (the
actress & the "techie") "met in the 60's & started
wearing Japanalia in the 80's...many changes since then, but not in our
friendship or the clothes we love to wear...everywhere!" And
GAWWWD do they wear us well!~ A New
York "Japanalia JAP", Elise Platt (business owner in high
profile real estate) is "by no means a size8...Forgotten Women
closed...a devout J-wardrobe shopper...I get more compliments on my
clothes than anyone I know...on a recent cruise, a couple never got their
luggage. I clothed us all: she 5'2" size 6, & he, tall
& distinguished...saved the day in Russia!~ Maryland architect,
Coriolana Simon-Wolters, an energy efficiency specialist combating
global warming (when she's not doing Ikebana, traditional Central Asia
dance, photography, & performing viola da gamba) always "feels
like a celebrity (that includes Tall & Thin) wearing these
clothes...gives me head-turning style, classic or over-the-edge, depending
on my spirit...my secret dream is to park an Air Stream in my driveway,
stuffed with Japanalia...why wear anything else?" THANKS!
Bar/Bat Mitzvahs, weddings, or a dress-to-impress event coming up? Sherbet-flavored washable microfibre separates are "rich tasting" but "light of calorie$"...or try a lush
4-ply silk in 8 classic colors!
From our stores, studio, or on the road: We enjoy working with you...Tom, Ellen,
Karin, Georgianna, Larry, Donna, Laura, Pam, Susan, Jose, Elsa and
Maria....
See you at a show!
Bye! Dan
